A Few Quick Fixes for Car Dents
Besides our houses, apartments, or condominiums, our cars are easily among the most expensive items that we bought for ourselves. Because of this, it is totally understandable if we sometimes go out of our way just to be able to maintain or even enhance the appearance of our vehicles.
However, no matter how careful we are, some people that we share the road with can do things that cause harm to our cars. Among the most common damage that they cause are car dents, which obviously make the vehicle unsightly.
Luckily, there are a few things that you can do to quickly fix dents. We discuss some of them below.
However, before we get to them, we have to take note here that not all car dents can be addressed by quick DIY fixes. More severe damage should be handled by professionals such as the guys at UDentiFix.
Get rid of dents using a hair dryer and compressed air.
Who would have thought that car dents can be taken care of by using common home products such as a hair dryer and a can of compressed air? To do this, start by heating the dent using the hair dryer. Set the dryer to its highest temperature to hasten the heating process.
Once heated, cover the dent with aluminum foil. Wear protective gloves, and then spray the compressed air right on the dent. You can also rub dry ice on the aluminum foil if compressed air is not available. Both of these quickly lower the temperature of the previously heated dent. The quick change in temperature might cause the dent to pop out and mostly go back to its original state.
Pour hot water on the dent, and then push from behind to pop the dent out.
If the dent happens to be in the plastic part of your car’s bumper, you can simply pour hot water on this area, and then push from behind it to pop the dent out. You may have to remove the bumper if the dent is not easy to reach. To avoid any injury, make sure that you are wearing the appropriate protective gear when you execute this.
You might have to repeat this process a few times more if the dent is not popped out fully after your first try. When you are done, you can pour cold water on the fixed area so that you can clean it off much more easily.
Fix dents using a cup plunger.
Cup plungers are usually used to unclog toilets and sinks. You can also use this tool in fixing dents. All you have to do is pour water on the dent and on the plunger. Push the plunger onto the dent, and make sure that it sticks to it firmly. And then slowly pull to pop the dent out. You may have to do this a couple of times if the dent covers a large area.
Simple dents on your car can be fixed using simple methods and tools. However, if the damage is a bit more severe, you may have to get the help of professionals to get the job done.
