Characteristics of Different Types of Tarpaulins
Tarpaulins, usually referred as tarps are big sheets that are quite flexible and has various purpose like protection of cargo, covering load, temporary shelters, etc. Tarpaulins have various properties and features like they are water resistant, corrosion resistance, and many other. Tarps provide protection against rain, wind, sunlight, or any other harmful weather conditions. They can also be used at construction site. There are different types of tarps available like Canvas tarps, Hay tarps, Heavy duty mesh tarps, etc. Each tarps has its own advantages and are used for different types of works. At the corners, tarps have grommets so that they can be easily tied down.

1) Canvas Tarps:
Canvas tarps are generally used in flatbed trucking or trailer because they are breathable and less abrasive. So, if the load that is carried is moisture sensitive then these canvas tarps are very useful because of their breathable property. Mostly tarps are made up of polyethylene or polypropylene but canvas tarps are made up of cotton that makes it environment friendly as they will get decomposed easily. Canvas tarps are suitable for snowy and windy conditions because they are slip resistant and heavy. These tarps are easy to handle and store after it is used.

They are used to cover the cargo or load that is made up of steel or metal like wires, sheets, etc. It protects the load from corrosion and rust. They are available in large size so you do not require too many of them as one is enough to cover the load. They are lightweight hence it becomes easy to handle and maintain them. Steel tarps are very durable and you can use them for any kind of load because of its big size. These tarps also provides the facility of double fastening that is usually not available in other tarps.
